  • Search volume: The average number of searches every month.

Based on these criteria, you must choose the keywords for your content.

Focus on a Handful of Keywords Per Page:

Don’t focus on every keyword that is relevant to your page. As a rule of thumb, you must concentrate on one primary keyword and one to five secondary keywords. Moreover, there is also a possibility that your page may rank for multiple keywords. Therefore, focusing on a handful rather than one keyword is usually advised by experts.

Use Secondary Keywords, Synonyms, and Long-Tail Keywords:

Rather than repeating the same keyword in your content, you must focus on secondary keywords, synonyms, and long tail keywords that add value to your readers. Search engines have a holistic approach to page ranking and appreciate content that is comprehensive. Having different variations of a keyword signals search engines that your content provides in-depth knowledge to the readers and is valuable.

Maintain a Good Keyword Density:

Keyword density is the number of times a particular keyword appears in the content of a particular page. While having an optimal keyword density is good, don’t overly rely on SEO tools that provide information on how often a keyword must be added to the content.
